Patrons: Sophie Aldred and Katy Manning

'Although my character, Ace, beat up a Dalek with a baseball bat rather than pushed one around the streets of Bedford, I am delighted to be part of this brilliant event. Bedford Foodbank is a brilliant organisation, making a real difference to people who really need support. Please donate however much you can, large or small, and help the Daleks do something worthwhile for a change!'
WHAT?
It's a sponsored walk with a difference: it's also a sponsored Dalek trundle. We shall be pushing Daleks through the streets of Bedford to raise money for Bedford Foodbank.
WHEN?
Saturday 8th October. 10 a.m. start. We'll be assembling from 9.30, pushing the Daleks for three miles, and then there'll be a gathering and assembly of Daleks and Dalek Pushers in Bedford Town Centre. For details of start and end locations, please see our Facebook page:
facebook.com/bedfordwhocharitycon
WHY?
Everything we raise from the event will go to Bedford Foodbank. They're currently providing emergency food to some 500 children and adults in the local area. Clients are referred from professionals; they and their families receive three days' supplies to help them through a crisis. The food is non-perishable and carefully selected, so it's also nutritionally balanced. It's donated by people in supermarkets and other collection points; the Foodbank also supplies other essential groceries like toiletries, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, sanitary products and nappies to those who need them.
It costs in excess of £30,000 to run Bedford Foodbank; we're aiming for the Dalek Push to raise £5000 of this.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
If you can help, the first thing we can do is to say thank you!
Here are some possibilities:
sponsor us, please email Simon Danes, the organiser,
at info@bedfordwhocharitycon.co.uk
If you'd like to make a donation: please go to our JustGiving
page:
justgiving.com/crowdfunding/simon-danes-2
family. It's at facebook.com/bedfordwhocharitycon
Please ask them to share it too, and to sponsor us or make a donation. If 100 people share our page, our reach becomes enormous!
Email Simon at info@bedfordwhocharitycon.co.uk for a sponsor form and further details.
Cosplayers are welcome; so are people in everyday clothes!
No age limit, though we'd ask that children under 12 be accompanied by an adult.
If you have a Dalek and would like to bring him, that would be marvellous. If you're worried about the wear to his wheels, he can be mounted on a trolley; we may be able to get some if you can't lay your hands on one.
If it rains, we're still going ahead, so please bring a brolly and other mechanisms to keep your Dalek dry!
Katy Manning writes:
'Something that most of us take for granted and cannot survive without is food. Every time you tuck into your tasty meals, please think of those who won't be, and give generously to help change this heartbreaking situation that affects so many. Let's dig deep into our pockets and push those pesky Daleks into changing this appalling situation.'
Bedford Who Charity Con 3
will be held on Saturday 8th April 2017. More details will be announced soon!
